The company was considering moving to the 230,000-sf Sawgrass Point Office Building in Sunrise. Instead, Cigna Dental Health has signed a 10-year, 63,737-sf office lease in Plantation valued at approximately $10 million.

Cigna's new office space is located at 300 NW 82nd Ave. All of its offices will be located on one floor of the Executive Pavilion, which is part of Plantation Town Center, formerly called Plantation Fashion Mall.

In late August, the city of Sunrise offered the company up to $450,000 in all-cash incentives to make the move. The cash would be spread out over three years. The city would have gotten 420 permanent jobs.

Cigna decided on the Executive Pavilion for several reasons, broker Jay Adams tells GlobeSt.com:
-The move puts the company, which currently is spread out on three floors of the same building, onto one floor.
-"There's virtually no loss factor" to move.
-"We had well over the normal parking allowance."
-The building offers after-hours air-conditioning.
-The building is part of a mixed-use development with office, retail and hotel space. "That's one of the attractions of the building. That is a big plus." An approximately 500,000-sf, class A mall that is attached to the office building offers restaurants, banks, a Sheridan hotel with a conference center and other conveniences for workers.

Cigna Dental Health intends to move around January 2004, after doing a complete build-out of the space, says Adams says, first vice president in the Fort Lauderdale office of CB Richard Ellis Inc., who represented Plantation Fashion Mall LLC in the transaction. Chris Constant, associate director in Cushman & Wakefield Fort Lauderdale's office, represented Cigna Dental Health.
