The Gracechurch centre opened in 1975 and was refurbished in 1996. At 532,000 sf, it provides more than 50 per cent of the town's retail offer. Many major high street retailers are present, including Marks & Spencer, Argos, Boots The Chemists, Next and Bhs. Last year's net income was £7.3 million ($11.5 million)
The Mall Fund started in 2002 and was established by clients of Morley Fund Management and Capital & Regional plc to own and operate community shopping centres throughout the UK under The Mall brand. The fund now owns 13 shopping centres worth £939 million ($1.475 billion) and has plans to grow assets to £2bn ($3.2bn) in up to 30 locations.
