The four-story structure has a 2004 assessed value of $88.3 million. The high value can likely be accounted for by the property's historically significant age and well-traveled location in the District.

While a great deal of the construction work will be aimed at the building's inner workings—such as the electrical system, the HVAC system, and piping system--there will also be a partial renovation of the interior workspace. Alexandria, VA-based Geier Brown Renfrow Architects is behind the renovation design. Work on the structure is due to wrap up by October of this year.
