In their positions as board members, the new and returning appointees will advise the mayor and city council on issues related to the identification, protection, retention and preservation of historical sites in San Diego.
Schaefer is a senior archeologist at ASM Affiliates, a cultural resource management consulting firm. He is also a member of the San Diego Historical Society and the Society for Historical Archeology.
Silvas is a historian and a tribal council member of the Juaneno Band of Mission Indians. He is a member of the San Diego Presidio Park Council and the Old Town Interpretive Advisory Committee, as well as vice president of Protector of Historic Sites.
