Krispy Kreme to Add Location on West Side

CHICAGO-The nation's fastest-expanding doughnut chain is set to add another location in metro Chicago, at a retail redevelopment on the border of the city and the western suburb of Oak Park.

CHICAGO-Doughnut maker Krispy Kreme will open another store in the metro Chicago area at the redevelopment of a former Chrysler dealership on the far West Side of Chicago. The project, at 6500-6600 W. North Avenue, encompasses two city blocks in the Galewood neighborhood and borders the suburb of Oak Park.

Akton Realty has begun construction on phase I of the project, which will include a new 14,400-sf retail facility; phase II will be an additional 9,000 sf. Akton notes that “several national tenants” have committed to the space at the property, but besides the doughnut purveyor, is not yet releasing names. The Krispy Kreme store will be a freestanding drive-through facility.
