AURORA, CO-The U.S. Department of Commerce gave the Fitzsimons Redevelopment Authority a prestigious national award.

The department gave the fledgling medical center and bioscience park, which will have a completed value of about $4 billion, the 2003 Technology Development Award from the Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration.

Fitzsimons bested organizations from St. Louis and New Orleans.

Fitzsimons is a partnership between the city of Aurora, CO and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, which will be moving there along with Children's Hospital and Denver's VA Hospital.

When completed, Fitzsimons will employ more people than the Colorado ski industry.
