The developer was chosen from a shortlist of four companies. It plans to redevelop the 11-acre site, formerly a pitch & putt course and car park, with an £8 million ($13 million) leisure complex. Phase I will include a 60 bed family hotel; a multiplex cinema; 10 pin bowling; a restaurant; two drive-thru's and 470 car park spaces.

Alliance's Nick Pentith said: "Our excellent track record of leisure development in not only neighbouring Blackpool, but also in Preston where we developed the Capitol Centre, were taken into account by Wyre Borough Council during their selection process. We have already elicited a great deal of interest for Phase I and look forward to starting on-site later this year."
