The KitchenEtc lease leaves 21,000 sf of a former 24,000-sf Kmart at AirportSquare still available for lease. An affiliate of Boston-based TA AssociatesRealty owns the 265,000-sf Airport Square on Rte. 309 and Upper State Rd.,across from Montgomery Mall. Airport Square is anchored by Best Buy, Borders,Marshall's and Toys 'R Us. This will be KitchenEtc's 18th store. Itcurrently operates units in nine Eastern states.
A KitchenEtc store recently opened on Kirkwood Highway in nearby Wilmington,DE. Plans are reportedly underway for an additional eight stores in theGreater Philadelphia marketplace.
Meanwhile, The 200-unit Baja Fresh take-out, dine-in Mexican restaurantchain also embarks on expansion in PA. It has leased space in Abington, PA andplans units in Springfield, Montgomeryville, Newtown Square and PlymouthMeeting, PA and in Wilmington, DE.
Newberry Park, CA-based Baja Fresh is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wendy'sInternational. It currently has restaurants in 18 states.
Conshohocken, PA-based Fameco Real Estate represented both KitchenEtc andBaja Fresh in their recent lease transactions in this area.
