The 1,800-seat theater will be built with 900 to 1,000 seats on the orchestra level, 250 seats in the loge, 350 seats on the mezzanine and 350 seats in the balcony and boxes. HPPA will design the 90,000-sf building for a site on the corner of Northeast 10th Street and 106th Avenue Northeast. It will share the block with Bellevue Place, a mixed-use project by Kemper Freeman Development that includes two office buildings, retail space and the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. Kemper Freeman Jr. donated the theater site, which is valued at $8 million.

HHPA was selected after a competitive national review of 14 architectural firms that met the criteria established for applicants. The firm's credits include the rejuvenation of Radio City Music Hall and Hyperion Theater at Disney's California Adventure. As for multi-purpose facilities similar to PACE, HPPA designed the Hult Center for the Performing Arts in Eugene, OR, the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts in Anchorage and the RiverCenter for Performing Arts in Columbus, Georgia.

The project team also includes Peder Knudson of Knudson & Ward, theater design consultant; Maria Barrientos of Barrientos LLC, project management; The Collins Group, fundraising; and Perkins Coie legal counsel. PACE's 21-member Board of Directors includes two people from the commercial real estate industry, the aforementioned Kemper Freeman Jr. and George Rowley, chairman and CEO of Rowley Enterprises, a diversified real estate management and development company.
