Riverwood CEO Stephen M. Humphrey says the actual ground-breaking is tentatively scheduled for June, with completion targeted in 2005. Atlanta-based Riverwood is building a 300,000-sf warehouse and product distribution center to complement the conversion of an additional 150,000 sf.
High-speed presses and gluers are being added to the converting facility. Riverwood is a $1.2 billion global beverage and consumer products packager.
In March, the company signed a definitive merger agreement with Golden, CO-based Graphic Packaging International Corp. in a stock deal aggregately valued at $3 billion. The transaction is expected to close in Q3.
