The new appointees are structural engineer Cameron Duncan and architect Dale Naegle. Duncan, who is currently employed with Blaylock Engineering Group, has 18 years of experience as a lead design engineer for commercial, industrial, waterfront and residential structures. His professional affiliations include membership with the Existing Building Committee of the Structural Engineers Association of San Diego. Naegle, who holds a B.A. in architecture from the University of Southern California, is the sole owner of Naegle Architects. He specializes in housing, recreation centers and retail facilities.

Duncan and Naegle will join reappointed members Michael Furby, Tony Kan and John Littrell on the Board of Building Appeals and Advisors. Duties of the board members include advising the mayor and city council on the suitability of alternate building materials and types of construction, as well as recommending reasonable interpretations of the city's building codes.
