The project consists of a 265,000-sf, three-story facility comprised of office and manufacturing space joined by two bridges that lead to a five-story parking structure. It has been designed to house Cymer's manufacturing, assembly, testing, shipping and receiving operations, along with a major data center and office support. Located at 17075 Thornmint Ct., the building is nearly complete after just 11 months of construction.

General contractor Hensel Phelps Construction Co. is building the project, which was designed by Austin Veum Robbins Parshalle. Due to Cymer's unique needs and accelerated timeline, "we knew we had to re-evaluate our traditional linear design process to expeditiously execute multiple tasks simultaneously," says Christopher T. Veum, AVRP's president and principal in charge. "This meant moving our design team of 11 to live and work at the construction site; therefore, offering Cymer increased direct communication, cost effectiveness, efficiency and flexibility in the design build process."

San Diego County itself also contributed to the ease of the development process, as the Cymer project is part of the county's early assistance program. Participation in the program made swift approval possible, opened communication and ensured the project stayed on track, according to a company spokesperson.

Remaining work on the building is expected to begin this July, with the project expected to wrap up on time and within budget.
