Tysons Corner Makes Room for 101,000-sf AMC Movie Theater

MCLEAN, VA-Big plans are in store for the 1.9 million-sf Tysons Corner Center super-regional mall. AMC Entertainment Inc. has decided to build an 18-screen megaplex theater at the popular shopping center. The 101,000-sf complex of auditoriums will feature AMC’s highly touted state-of-the-art stadium seating design and will serve as the anchor to a new entertainment wing being developed at the shopping center. Kansas City, MO-based AMC has not disclosed the cost of getting the project up and running or the terms of its lease with mall co-owner and manager Wilmorite Properties Inc.

Tysons Corner Center is located just outside of Washington, DC and an estimated 20 million customers peruse the grand mall’s 250 retail options every year. “We know our shoppers deserve the best and we are delighted with the addition of AMC Theatres,” Wilmorite president and CEO John Anderson says. “The expansion to Tysons Corner Center will offer a number of expanded options for exciting entertainment, dining and shopping.”
