Demand for City Dwellings is Hardly Dwindling

WASHINGTON, DC-The housing market in the heart of the nation’s metropolitan cities is holding its own against the suburbs, it seems. Industry insiders attending the Urban Land Institute’s recent Spring Council Forum have reported that the demand for intown housing continues at a steady pace. Attendees of the quarterly meeting concluded that the young and single, childless couples and the well-to-do are shoring up the call for luxury urban living accommodations. The increasing influx of immigrants with a range of income levels also does its part to keep the numbers climbing.

“Central business districts are turning into central social districts offering culture, arts and entertainment,” ULI senior resident fellow William H. Hudnut III explains.
