| Jonathan A. Schein President & CEO Real Estate Media GlobeSt.com | 5/14/03: A brief issued by the Center for Media Research recently summarized some interesting facts about what people do online. Those facts were from a survey by the Pew Internet and American Life Project--an organization that funds research into the impact of the Internet on our culture. According to the brief, 57% of Americans--roughly 109 million people--go online. Not surprisingly, topping the list was sending Email--at 93% of all activity. A big surprise is that only 53% of all web-based activity is dedicated to research for school and training and only 47% to some form of job search. In other words, approximately 50% of Americans are not utilizing one of the best tools available for some form of job search. If you think the competition for jobs is tough now, just wait until the other 50% catch on. By the way, if you are wondering what was at the bottom of the list, gambling came in at 7%. I wonder if Bill Bennett logs on. | To receive the weekly Executive Postings email, register for our free daily NewsBlast in the upper righthand corner of this page.
