"He worked tirelessly, putting in long hours and was highly respected by his peers and clients for his vast knowledge about every area of the investment sales industry. He was a man with a strong work ethic, exceedingly professional and committed to excellence."
Prior to assuming responsibility for the nationwide expansion of Capital Advisors in 1997, Haggarty managed his own real estate investment banking firm which he founded in March of 1992. In 1983, Haggarty joined Cushman & Wakefield Inc. where he served as founder and executive director of the Financial Services Group until 1992. He was also a member of the Board of Directors and of the company's National Management Committee. Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, Haggarty was employed by Salomon Brothers Inc where he was responsible for the formation of the commercial real estate group and in charge of their real estate activities and services from 1980 through 1983.
Haggarty began his career with the Equitable Life Assurance Society and served at various times as manager of the Industrial and Special Purpose Properties Portfolio; Assistant VP and Manager of the Office Building and Hotel Portfolio; and VP and Officer-in-Charge of a pension fund separate account.
The client list he has worked for includes institutions such as Lend Lease, MetLife, TIAA; owner/developers such as Hines, Mack-Cali, Apollo, Tishman-Speyer; corporations such as Viacom, Chanel, Chevron/Texaco; pension funds and foundations such as the Archdiocese of New York; the MacArthur Foundation and various mutual and hedge fund investors such as Fidelity Investments and Franklin Mutual. He has represented numerous Asian and European investors in the acquisition, sale and, in recent years, the restructuring of investments in US real estate.
Among his numerous industry associations, Haggarty was a member of the Urban Land Institute; The Mortgage Bankers Association and the Executive Committee of the Board of the National Multi-Housing Council. He was also a frequent guest lecturer and speaker at various real estate related venues in the United States and overseas.
"Kevin was also an exceptional husband and wonderful father," Siegal adds. "He shared a 32-year marriage with his beloved wife, Cathy, and took great pride in his two sons and daughter." In addition to his wife, the Larchmont, NY resident is survived by son Mark and his wife Amy, son Christopher and daughter Lizzie. Funeral arrangements were pending.
