The Andersen Opera Center has been designed in a modernist style, featuring glass curtain walls, a glass balcony bridge and a two-story lobby. Construction of the multi-purpose facility is set to begin in the fall and be completed in the winter of 2004.

The project's architect is Rodriguez and Quiroga, Architects Chartered of Coral Gables, and Stanley Arkin of Arkin Consulting Inc. in Miami Beach will oversee the project's design and construction for the Florida Grand Opera.

Fort Lauderdale-based Maleta Construction Co. was formed last fall by Lawrence P. Maleta and Thomas A. Maleta. Both of them previously worked for Pavarini Construction Co. Inc. a major general contractor in Fort Lauderdale.
