Maleta Construction to Build 284,000-sf Opera Center

MIAMI-Coral Gables, FL-based Florida Grand Opera has selected Maleta Construction Co. Inc. of Fort Lauderdale to build the multimillion-dollar Andersen Opera Center here. The 284,000-sf opera center will be located across the street from the Miami Performing Arts Center.

The Andersen Opera Center has been designed in a modernist style, featuring glass curtain walls, a glass balcony bridge and a two-story lobby. Construction of the multi-purpose facility is set to begin in the fall and be completed in the winter of 2004.

The project’s architect is Rodriguez and Quiroga, Architects Chartered of Coral Gables, and Stanley Arkin of Arkin Consulting Inc. in Miami Beach will oversee the project’s design and construction for the Florida Grand Opera.
