DVLA already occupies two phases at Telelink Park, Swansea Vale, and this latest contract with Swansea based developers Sylfaen (Wales) Limited, is for two further buildings on the adjoining Cedar Court site. As a whole, the Centre will cover 43,000 sf and will extend the government agency's occupancy at Swansea Vale to over 113,000 sf.

Richard Gatehouse, partner at the Cardiff office of Gerald Eve, who provided DVLA with development and acquisition advice, commented, 'This deal will see the construction of two high profile buildings in Swansea, continuing the momentum of new development in the city. Site preparation works have already begun, with handover programmed for 2004. The training and business development accommodation in these two buildings will be built to a high specification, with raised access flooring and air conditioning. In addition, the innovation building will accommodate a large demonstration theatre, an audio-visual zone and production areas. This type of modern, innovative development is great news for the City of Swansea and will provide DVLA and other Department for Transport Agencies with a facility from which they can operate for many years to come.'

Sylfaen (Wales) Limited was represented by Swansea-based chartered surveyors, Poolman Harlow. Terms of the deal are undisclosed.
