The developer is asking the Coosa Valley Regional Development Commission for an OK on the venture which would tentatively comprise 600 apartment units, 1,400 homes, 10 acres for commercial use and 21 acres for a school.

Bartow Industrial Centre needs to have the land rezoned from industrial to residential and commercial before it can break ground, according to Bartow County's planning and development department. The rezoning hearing is tentatively set for August.

The 514 acres are part of a 1,100-acre tract owned by Bartow Industrial Centre near GA 411 and Cowan Dr.
