Hankowsky is Rouse's handpicked successor. The former president of the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corp. joined Liberty as EVP and chief investment officer in January 2001. Little more than a year later he replaced Rouse as president, and this January, he also succeeded Rouse as CEO. Rouse retained his post as chairman of the board until his death.
As president of PIDC, Hankowsky was responsible for several Philadelphia-area developments, including the Pennsylvania Convention Center, the Marriott Convention Hotel, and the Comcast-Spectator First Union Center. Prior to joining PIDC in 1989, he held management posts at the Reading Corp. and the Camden, NJ office of economic development.
The Liberty portfolio encompasses 51 million sf of office and industrial properties with approximately 1,900 tenants.
