The new Lower Manhattan superstore, at 100 Broadway between Pine and Wall streets, replaces Borders' World Trade Center-shop, which was destroyed on Sept. 11. The new location features two floors and a mezzanine level, along with a Dean & DeLuca café and wireless Internet access. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Borders Group CEO Greg Josefowicz were on-hand yesterday for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

This debut falls on the heels of the recent grand opening ceremony for a Waldenbooks in Midtown. Set at 41 West 50th St., the new store will feature more than 20,000 books and periodicals. It marks the first Waldenbooks in Manhattan.

Madison HBCD's Jenny Pittarelli repped Borders in its long-term Lower Manhattan lease. The retailer was self-represented in the Waldenbooks deal. Other terms of the two transactions were undisclosed.
