Focus on Retail Demand
The total number of out-of-town retail requirements rose by 28% in the past year, while in-town retail demand remained fairly constant, with only a slight increase of 0.04%.
Stephen Mahon, Head of Retail at Churston Heard said: Whilst the total demand from the leading retailers has increased significantly, the actual number of requirements has remained relatively constant. This confirms the general shift for larger retail units required by the multiple retailers in the better towns in both prime and secondary locations. This bears out our own assessment that there is an increasing demand for larger secondary retail accommodation, particularly in the larger retail conurbations."
