The One America entity that was granted the agreement by the CCDC board is called One America Second Phase PT LLC, which will be negotiating for the purchase and development of the parcel. The agreement includes a 300-day negotiation period and permits the exploration of a wide range of development alternatives, including a hotel, which was originally approved for this site.
San Diego County led California in the development of new hotels during 2002, according to the latest data available from Costa Mesa-based Atlas Hospitality Group, which says the county added eight hotels comprising 1,512 rooms during the year. The county also leads the state in the number of new hotels planned, 50, but that figure is down by more than 19% since 2001, according to the Atlas survey.
