Ron Barrott, chief executive of Stannifer, commented: 'Stannifer has spent 18 months preparing these plans and engaging in public consultation. During this period it has become very clear that a high quality scheme that can be delivered as soon as possible is required. And that is exactly what we will provide. We are already in detailed discussions with key retailers and leisure operators and have virtually finalised the department store deal.
'We are confident that Project Phoenix fulfils all legal and planning requirements, can be delivered in the shortest possible timescale, has wide support from a large part of the local community and, in tandem with the planned improvements to the Octagon Centre, will provide a first class development which will serve High Wycombe well into the future. We look forward to starting work on site next year, with the scheme opening in Spring 2007'.
