07/02/03: The second quarter has just ended, and now it’s time to plan for the rest of 2003. Is this the time to start preparing for the rebound or stand pat for the third and fourth quarters? July and August are traditionally slow times for hiring. However, this may be the perfect time of the year to attract the professionals you need to grow revenues and market share. In this same vein, are you doing what is necessary to retain the talent you have? There has been quite a bit of movement within brokerage-services companies in the past few months with a whole lot of raiding going on. If you’re intent on maintaining your position in the marketplace, this is a great time to take staffing issues seriously. September is no time to be caught off guard.

Hedman

INSIGNIA/ESG (NEW YORK CITY) 26-year industry veteran William R. Hedman is promoted to executive managing director. He joined the firm in 1980 as a senior managing director and worked on developing and directing the company’s consulting division, overseeing real estate matters for corporate, institutional, and entrepreneurial clients.
Furer

KUSHNER PROPERTIES (NEW JERSEY)The company appoints long-time employee Donny Furer to director of commercial management. He is responsible for overseeing property management for all of the firm’s office, industrial and retail projects. He initially joined Kushner Companies in 1991 as property manager.
Abraham

GRUBB & ELLIS ADENA ADVISORS (COLUMBUS, OH) Amanda Abraham is named to the firm’s property management team. She was most recently a real estate manager at Highwoods Properties in Raleigh, NC. In her current capacity with Grubb & Ellis Adena, she will direct a select portfolio of commercial properties.
Herold

RICHARDS BARRY JOYCE & PARTNERS (BOSTON) Shannon Herold joins the firm’s downtown team as an associate. Herold will focus on the leasing of office space for tenants and landlords in the downtown Boston market. She was previously with CB Richard Ellis focusing on investment sales and office leasing services in the Hartford region.
Heskel

MANSUR CAPITAL (CHICAGO)The company appoints Dennis Heskel managing director for the firm. He will lead the marketing and operation of Ontario Partners, the firm’s highly successful hedge fund of funds. Heskel brings more than 15 years of experience in investing and trading to the firm.
