Borders Relocates to Bigger Store Down the Street

VIENNA, VA-In an effort to bring the local community more books and the like, Borders Books & Music has decided to relocate from its current 20,000-sf space at 8311 Leesburg Pike, to a 30,000-sf space just down the street at 8027 Leesburg Pike. The Ann Arbor, MI-headquartered book chain has 22 shops in the Metropolitan Washington, DC region. Terms of the new lease agreement have not been disclosed, but retail space in the greater Metropolitan Washington, DC region rents for an average of $21 to $22 per-sf. The 220,000-sf mixed-use property at 8027 Leesburg boasts 90,000 sf of retail space, which is 100% leased through KLNB retail.

“We needed to move because we outgrew our existing location and we wanted our customers throughout the Tyson’s Corner area and surrounding towns to have access to the vast music and movie selection that Borders shoppers expect,” says Borders Vienna store general manager April Lilley.
