According to Jim Fijan, executive vice president for CB Richard Ellis Inc., the space marked a "rare opportunity." Fijan, who worked on the deal, notes that most call center opportunities are located in the Southeast Valley, in cities like Tempe. "When Vanguard decided to expand out of the building (in a property in Tempe), the owner had the opportunity to acquire all of the furniture and work stations," he tells GlobeSt.com.
Vanguard previously occupied nearly 80% of the two-story building, which consists of 114,000 sf. The owner, 92 Mountain View LLC of Denver, considered breaking up the vacated space prior to securing the Wireless Retail lease. "There's a not a lot of call center traffic in Scottsdale for 90,000 sf," says Fijan. "This is a great deal for both parties."
Wireless Retail now occupies the entire second floor of the building and half of the first floor. Headquartered in Scottsdale, the company has more than 2,500 retail locations in 50 states.
Fijan, along with CBRE's Tom Adelson, Jerry Roberts and Kevin Calihan, represented the tenant. Tom Boyle from the Phoenix office of Lee & Associates Arizona negotiated on behalf of the building owner.
Wireless Retail provides outsource sales solutions for service-based consumer electronics products and is a nationwide retailer of technology products. It is an authorized wireless, satellite TV, radio and broadband Internet dealer.
