Mathewson Park Apartments, a 15-unit, three-story building, will be developed on a half-acre at the corner of Depot and Maple streets in Factoryville, PA, in Wyoming County, just north of Philadelphia. PHFA awarded the project's developer, Clarks Summit, PA-based Housing Opportunities Inc., $555,331 in funds $136,436 in tax credits.

Mathewson will be reserved for people aged 62 and older. The estimated size of the facility is 16,100 sf, including 1,600 sf of community space. Wilkes-Barre, PA-based Melone is architect, and Dunmore, PA-based Marpaul Co. is general contractor. The Wyoming County Housing Authority is the management agent.

PFHA also committed slightly more than $2.5 million in funds and $325,314 in tax credits for construction of Legacy Commons in Farrell in Mercer County in western PA. It is a 29-unit rental complex consisting of 12 two-story buildings located on 2.75 acres on Fruit, Wallis and Spearman streets. The complex will contain 17 two-bedroom and 12 three-bedroom units.

The sponsor is a limited partnership of three locally based developers and managers of rental properties: Pennrose Equities, Halliday Properties and Ralph A. Falbo Inc. The Pittsburgh-based firms of Perfido Weiskopf Architects and Lami Grubb Architects will handle design and architecture. Brookfield, OH-based Rien Construction Co. is general contractor.
