Corus was able to finance the entire loan without any participant banks. Being the sole lender helps Corus simplify the loan process and build a strong relationship with the borrower, explains Corus senior VP John M. Barkidjija. RBNB Wall Street Owner's principal Nathan Berman is in the process of applying for Liberty Bond financing that would ultimately pay off the Corus loan and give him a permanent loan, Barkidjija tells GlobeSt.com.
"Corus is very pleased to complete its fourth loan to an existing customer to convert commercial buildings to residential uses in lower Manhattan. We look forward to continuing this relationship and maintaining a strong presence in the New York lending market," says Barkidjija.
Berman was also one of the principals for three other Corus loans in lower Manhattan to convert office buildings to apartments. The addresses were: 17 John St., 84 William St., and 135 William St. Corus specializes in financing the conversion of older commercial buildings into residential uses across the US.
