Forest W. Brehm of homebuilding firm The Brehm Cos. has acquired Atrium I with plans to occupy the facility's entire 10,130-sf third floor. Located at 2714 Loker Ave., the building encompasses a total of 28,574 sf. It is the first phase of a two-building office complex that Newport National Corp. developed in the Carlsbad Oaks Business Park.

The second phase, Atrium II, was sold to private investment firm Franz LLC this past January. Encompassing 31,644 sf, the facility is entirely leased by civil engineering firm O'Day Consultants Inc., which is a related entity of Franz LLC.

In the recent sale of Atrium I, Brehm was represented by Rick Reeder and Justin Halenza of BRE Commercial/NAI's Carlsbad office. Reeder and Halenza, along with BRE Commercial colleagues Mark Avilla and Norm Kerlin, acted on behalf of Newport National/Cornerstone LLC. Newport National has recently completed work on another Carlsbad office development, known as Emerald Lake Corporate Centre. The $5.8-million project, which encompasses 83,682 sf, is located off Cannon Road at the new entrance to the Carlsbad Research Center.
