Aramark Lays Foundation for Facility in the Stockyards

CHICAGO-The $23-million facility is being built on the historic site of the former International Amphitheater. The project will retain 300 jobs for the city.

CHICAGO-The City of Chicago and Aramark Uniform Services have formally laid the foundation for a new, 125,000-sf plant and warehouse facility in the Stockyards industrial corridor, located on the southwest side of the city. The new facility is now being constructed on the site of the former International Amphitheater. The Amphitheater, a place of notable nostalgia for Chicagoans, was the site of many historic events, including a 1964 Beatles concert and the infamous 1968 Democratic National Convention.

According to Commissioner Alicia Berg, of the Chicago Department of Planning and Development. “Aramark Uniform Services will be an economic catalyst for the neighborhood by creating jobs and encouraging more development in the area.”

Plans call for Aramark to consolidate two of its facilities in Chicago to the new site at Halsted and Exchange streets. Aramark chose the Chicago site over two other locations in Rockford, IL, and Racine, WI.
