Libeskind was represented by Stephen Schofel, executive managing director and Douglas Grabiner, managing director for Newmark & Co. Inc. Kevin Richards of Capital Real Estate represented the landlord, Stellar Management.
Grabiner tells GlobeSt.com that Libeskind spent a few months searching for property in the downtown area. The Rector site provided "space suitable for a creative services firm, a high ratio of windows and a view of the former World Trade Center site."
Just last week it was announced that Skidmore Owings & Merrill and Studio Daniel Libeskind would collaborate to design the world's tallest building at the World Trade Center site. SOM will serve as the Design Architect and Project Manager, leading a Project Team that will design the Tower. Studio Daniel Libeskind, which has been designated by the Port Authority as the Master Plan Architect for the World Trade Center site, will serve as a collaborating architect during the concept and schematic design phases of the Freedom Tower and a full member of the Project Team.
The firm is currently occupying temporary space in the building while its offices are under construction and expect to be in its new headquarters space in September.
