NYC Landmark Hotel to Get $19M Makeover

NEW YORK CITY-The Doral Avenue Park Hotel will close its doors to guests in November while it undergoes a $19 million renovation. The landmark hotel will reopen next summer as a Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants style boutique.

The San Francisco-based company took over the management of the 188-room hotel on July 15 and plans to shutter the property for a complete redevelopment and renovation. The plans also call for expanding the hotel to include 205 rooms and a new restaurant and bar concept. However, at this time the company has not chosen a specific theme for the hotel or a new name.

The hotel, located at the corner of Park Avenue and 38th Street, is owned by a Seattle-based investment group.
