Platinum is being developed by A.R. Development Group, its first project. Construction on the tower is set to begin this fall, and completion is set for spring 2005.
Fullerton-Diaz, known for its design of Murano and Bristol Towers, designed the entire Platinum luxury high-rise, including public spaces. Platinum will be tropical and contemporary with signature Miami style, according to principal Julio Diaz.
"With Platinum, we are taking the art deco concept to the next level," says project manager Peter Suarez. "Minimal ornamentation combined with art deco mannerisms evoke what people refer to as romantic modernism."
Since every unit in Platinum will overlook Biscayne Bay, Fullerton-Diaz emphasized water views, putting just seven units on each floor, positioning the building at an angle and using blue-green glass walls. The project also will feature long, see-through balconies at each end and the use of metals to evoke a feeling of being on a ship.
The tower's 119 one-, two- and three-bedroom units will range in size from 828 sf to 1,692 sf. Prices range from $240,000 to $500,000.
