Roel Construction Co. will be building the center, which is slated to rise on Fenton Parkway. Designed to encompass 6,500 sf upon completion, the project will feature two swimming pools, a tennis and basketball court, an indoor fitness center, a library and common areas at build-out.

Escala Recreation Center has been designed by Jack Gallagher of Dahlin Group/SD. Roel representatives working on the recreational center are project executive Wayne Hickey, superintendent Pat Casey and project engineer Joe Prior. Paul Barnes, Tod Fontana and Teri Shusterman are representing Shea Homes on the project, while Bob Linder, Greg Hastings and David Lother are acting on behalf of Continental Homes.

The recreation center is one of various amenities proposed for the Escala master-planned community, which is rising on a 90-acre site in Mission Valley. Shea Homes and Continental Homes acquired Escala's 90-acre site in April 2002. The developers paid $50 million to H.G. Fenton Co. for the property, which will eventually house more than 700 residences.
