According to the board members, design review approval has been granted, "subject to further study of the balcony and awning treatment along G Street." Design plans call for a six-story project comprised of 148 market-rate apartments, 154 parking spaces and more than 9,000-sf of street-level retail. The mixed-use complex is slated to rise on the block bounded by Market Street, 7th Avenue, G Street and 8th Avenue in Downtown's East Village. Construction on the project is expected to start as early as this September.

Aside from G Lofts West, OliverMcMillan's other current San Diego projects include Market and 7th and G Lofts East in the East Village area, NorthBlock and SouthBlock in the Gaslamp District and Cortez Park Lofts in the Cortez Hill neighborhood. The locally based, private firm has been developing in the region for a quarter of a century.
