The 19-year-old restaurant company will be leasing 6,500 sf in a freestanding building to be constructed in the Central Park section of Atlantic Station, says Bruce Macleod, the project's retail managing director. Terms of the Rosa Mexicano lease were not disclosed.

Area retail brokers familiar with the Atlantic Station retail component tell GlobeSt.com the lease is probably for five years at an asking rent range of $20 to $25 per sf. The lease is the fourth retail deal Atlantic Station has completed in the past 30 days and brings its total retail leasing volume to 394,201 sf.

Rosa Mexicano, founded in New York City by Josephina Howard, has locations in Midtown East at 1063 First Ave. at 58th Street and at Lincoln Center, 61 Columbus Avenue at 62nd Street.

Atlantic Station is a redevelopment of the former Atlantic Steel Mill at Interstates 75 and 85. The project is planned for 12 million sf of retail, office, residential and hotel space and 11 public parks.
