State Grants $2M to Help Renovate 90-Year-Old Hospital

ALLENTOWN, PA-The grant, awarded by Gov. Ed Rendell, bolsters Sacred Heart

ALLENTOWN, PA-Gov. Ed Rendell handed out a $2-million state grant to SacredHeart Hospital, the 241-bed acute care facility and medical center at 421Chew Street here. The funding, promised by the previous state administration,augments the Catholic hospital’s $7.5-million capital construction projectthat is expected to reach completion this fall.

The construction project includes expansion and renovation of the emergencyroom in order to accommodate an estimated 20%-increase in demand along withrenovation of the lobby and first-floor outpatient services.
