The complex, which IDEC is developing with locally based Cisterra Partners, is rising at the northwest corner of Nobel Drive and I-805. Phase I, which will encompass approximately 352,000 sf, has been designed to include two office buildings, two lab facilities and a "commons" building comprised of a cafeteria, fitness center and conference rooms. At a recent reception to celebrate the topping out of IDEC's first phase, a metal beam was signed by all of the company's employees in attendance and then placed at the top of the "commons" facility.

Architectural firm HOK has designed Phase I of the IDEC campus, which is being built by general contractor Turner Construction. At build-out, the project's first phase is expected to accommodate more than 1,000 IDEC employees. The successful completion of this first phase will allow the firm to consolidate from its five present locations into one campus. Later phases are expected to provide for any additional growth, as they will add approximately 415,000 sf to the complex.

Founded in 1985 to develop and commercialize treatments for non-Hodgkins lymphoma, IDEC currently makes products aimed at addressing immune system disorders and autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
