At build-out, the 5,500-sf expansion will consist of a pair of new treatment rooms, a paramedic's area, a registration section and a family waiting room. The project will also result in upgrades to the existing treatment rooms, hallway, physician's room and nurse's station.
Phases II, III, IV and VI of the project have recently been completed by general contractor Roel Construction, which is building the Emergency Department/Triage expansion. Brian Duffy of UCSD Facilities Design & Construction is serving as the construction manager. Additional services are being provided by project architect Julia Cousins of Moon Mayoras Architects Inc., as well as numerous subcontractors including Arise Scaffolding, Harris Concrete and San Diego Construction Welding. Completion of the project is currently slated for November 2003.
