New Architecture Manager Joins CCDC

SAN DIEGO-The Centre City Development Corp. hires 20-year industry veteran Garry Papers as the organization's new manager of architecture and planning. Papers is replacing former manager Walter Rask.

SAN DIEGO-Garry Papers, an industry veteran with 20 years of experience in architecture, planning and urban design, has been tapped to fill the role of architecture and planning manager at Centre City Development Corp. He is replacing former manager Walter Rask, who has left the CCDC after eight years with the organization to serve as principal with San Francisco-based ROMA Design Group.

“Garry is the perfect person to help craft a greater vision for Downtown San Diego,” says Doug Austin, a former member of the CCDC board of directors and currently a principal with Austin Veum Robbins Parshalle Architects. Prior to accepting his new CCDC position, Papers was employed by Austin Veum Robbins Parshalle Architects, having served as project manager, project architect and urban designer at the firm since 2001. While there, Papers worked on several downtown projects, including the Smart Corner mixed-use development and the ANKA 6th and Market condo tower.
