Concept Eatery Adds Second Houston Location

HOUSTON-BJ's Brewhouse & Restaurant signs a 20-year lease for a 5,500-sf freestanding restaurant in a plan to add 1,000 sf. The lease is the chain's second in Houston, with three more in the pipeline.

HOUSTON-BJ’s Brewhouse & Restaurant has secured space at the edge of Willowbrook Mall for its second store in Houston and fourth in Texas.

The Huntington Beach, CA-based chain intends to add three more locations in the coming months, eyeing space in Sugar Land, the Woodlands and Houston’s Westheimer Road, David Stukalin with Dallas-based Weitzman Group’s Houston office tells GlobeSt.com. He and Brian Glaser in the firm’s Dallas office are handling the chain’s Texas expansion.

The 1310 W. Sam Houston Parkway store is a 5,500-sf freestanding building, which was previously leased to Mason Jar. Stukalin says BJ’s Brewhouse paid “key money” to free Mason Jar from the site and then inked its standard 20-year lease. According to the Harris County Appraisal District, the building is owned by the Permanent School Fund of the State of Texas and managed by the General Land Office in Austin.
