FleetBoston Acquires Progress Bank's 21 Philly-Area Branches

PHILADELPHIA-With the planned merger of FleetBoston and Blue Bell, PA-based

PHILADELPHIA-Blue Bell, PA-based Progress Financial Corp. is merging into FleetBoston Financial Corp. for a purchase price of approximately $211 million. The acquisition increases Fleet’s retail units in this state to 127 and also adds a branch in New Jersey. The acquired Progress branches are located throughout the six counties that make up the greater Philadelphia region.

The four Bucks County locations are: 2817 Street Rd. in Bensalem, 100 Progress Dr. in Doylestown, 736 Street Rd. in Southampton, and at the Creek View Shopping Center at 381 Easton Rd. in Warrington.

Two are in Chester County, at Crossroads Square, 720 West Uwchlan Ave. in Lionville and at the Paoli Shopping Center at 15 Leopard Rd. in Paoli.
