LONDON-The Mall Corporation, Capital & Regional’s community shopping centre fund, has won outline planning permission from the London Borough of Havering to extend its Liberty 2 mall in Romford, East London. Jointly with Asda Wal-Mart and Barratt Homes, Capital & Regional plans to extend the mall onto the adjoining Dolphin site, originally built as a council-owned leisure centre in the 1970s. The aim is to increase the weight of retailing on the north site of the Romford ring road, to counterbalance two major retail schemes–the Brewery and the refurbishment and extension of the Liberty Centre–to the south of the road.Existing tenants in Liberty 2 include Bon Marche, Ciro Citterio, Clinton Cards, Cromwells Madhouse, Peacocks and Wilkinsons.
