In the past 12 months, Starwood has added three others hotels to its Thailand portfolio: Rayavadee, a Luxury Collection resort in Krabi; The Westin Grande Sukhumvit in Bangkok and; the Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort. Starwood now manages eight hotels in Thailand.

Pattaya, located 90 minutes southeast of Bangkok, is considered one of the country's most attractive beach areas and its top windsurfing spot, attracting families, leisure and corporate groups. The resort is being developed between Pattaya and Jomtien Beach, approximately 1.2 miles from central Pattaya.

Resort facilities will include three dining outlets, a health club, kids club, extensive spa center with eighty treatment rooms, a business center and retail center. Meeting and banquet rooms will encompass 4,575 sf. One third of the hotels rooms will be "deluxe rooms," each with 700 sf of interior space and a 129-sf balcony.

Starwood is an owner, operator and franchiser of hotels and resorts based in White Plains, NY. The company owns and/or manages about 740 properties in 80 countries.

On Tuesday, Starwood announced it had completed the $104-million sale of two hotel properties--the 310-room BWI Airport Marriott and the 272-room Courtyard by Marriott Arlington Crystal City—to Orlando-based CNL Properties Inc. Starwood says it is also in "advanced negotiations" with CNL to sell a majority interest in two additional domestic hotels but retain the management assignment.
