FARMINGTON HILLS, MI-Grubb & Ellis Company, said it has leased 12,012 sf of hi-tech flex space here to GECOM.

Claybar, Inc. owns the property. GECOM plans on expanding its operations in southeast Michigan. Move-in is expected in October 2003.

GECOM Corp. was established in Greensburg, Indiana, near Indianapolis, in 1987. With capital of $16.5 million and more than 2,000 associates, GECOM has grown to become one of Indiana's leading companies and the largest door latch manufacturing base in the United States. GECOM produces one million door latches per month and supplies this output to Chrysler, local production facilities of Japanese automakers and companies in Canada. GECOM said it owns a 22% share of the North American market for door latches.

GECOM said it uses the Farmington Hills office as an “antenna for detecting various industry trends and interfaces with users.”

Grubb & Ellis team members Chuck Ginster, VP, industrial group, and Doreen Hicks, industrial group, represented the property owner in the transaction.
