T-Mobile acquired the land for the building from MHi Real Estate Development, a Redmond-based firm that is developing the Campus Within the Park project at the 60-acre Airport Business Center. MHi owner Jean Wood was not available for comment.

The call center's address will be 2999 S.W. Sixth Ave. The facility will employ 750 people when fully staffed. When that occurs, T-Mobile's total statewide employment will exceed 1,800 employees. The company also operates an 800-person call center in Salem, OR.

The Oregon Economic and Community Development Department along with the Economic Development for Central Oregon lead the efforts in recruiting the company to Central Oregon. Prior to choosing Redmond, T-Mobile had narrowed its choice to two cities, Redmond or Boise, ID.

In exchange for new jobs and investment, T-Mobile will receive: three-year property tax exemptions and fee reductions as part of standard Redmond Enterprise Zone benefits; a forgivable loan through the Oregon Economic & Community Development Department; a forgivable loan through the Strategic Reserve Fund; a grant from Economic Development for Central Oregon via funding from the Central Oregon Community Investment Board; and a grant from the City of Redmond.
