Construction Commences on Park to Bay Link

SAN DIEGO-The Centre City Development Corp. and Metropolitan Transit Board kick off groundbreaking on the $30-million public improvement project. The first phase of construction is taking place on Park Boulevard from Market to K streets.

SAN DIEGO-The $30-million public improvement project known as the Park to Bay Link is now underway, with the Centre City Development Corp. and Metropolitan Transit Board having kicked off groundbreaking on it today.

The project, which is a component of the Centre City Community Plan, is aimed at enhancing the “pedestrian connectivity” between Petco Park and the northern and eastern portions of San Diego, according to CCDC officials. It will entail the creation of a landscaped, pedestrian promenade on Park Boulevard, stretching from Broadway to K Street. Aimed at “improving the public right-of-way,” the promenade will include parking, trees, lighting and public art, CCDC officials note.
