OAK PARK, MI-The state has sold the Detroit Artillery Armory in Oak Park to Southfield-based real estate developer Schostak Bros. & Co. The $3.7 million sale will close before the end of the year, according to the state.

The 81-acre site, which fronts Eight Mile Road, east of Greenfield, will be redeveloped for mixed use, most likely a combination of retail and industrial uses, Schostak said.

The Michigan Deptartment of Military and Veterans Affairs had been interested in selling the property for several years, but environmental concerns about the property stalled the deal. The area has been cleaned up and final testing of the soil is now under way.
